Chairman’s Message

This year, we celebrate our 10th Anniversary of ‘making a difference’ in the lives of those in our community.
We have stepped out from the shadow of the COVID-19 pandemic with a surprised award -
‘The President’s Certificate of Commendation (Covid-19)’ issued by the
Prime Minister’s Office in December 2022.

We are grateful to all our Partners and Donors for their continuous support throughout the pandemic.

We are also very pleased and thankful to The Ministry of Culture, Community & Youth (MCCY)
for appointing us the Volunteer Centre (VC) for Sembawang.

Our charitable activities continue to garner several accolades :
• Awarded The President’s Challenge for 2023 for Caregiver Programme
• Awarded Charity Transparency Award 2022
• Appointed as SG Cares Volunteer Centre @ Sembawang 2022
• Awarded The President’s Certifi cate of Commendation (COVID-19) in 2022
• Developed Intergenerational Activities for Social Cohesion in 2020

Review of Financial Results
For the year ended 31 December 2022, BSL had an income of $2,656,000 (including CST grant at $990,000),
compared to $2113,000 in 2021. We managed to generate a surplus of S$689,000.

Future Outlook

As COVID-19 Safe Management Measures (SMM) have been lifted, our fundraising events and centre activities will be held physically with online, livestream from the centre to cater to the needs of physically disadvantagedseniors in their own home where appropriate.

Appreciation

We thank Mr Ong Ye Kung, Minister for Health, our Guest of Honour atour ‘Blossom Vesak ~ Unity in Diversity’ celebration on 8 May 2022, and our second ‘Ready Set GOLD!’ charity walk on 3 Sept 2022. We are also grateful to Ms Mariam Jaafar, Adviser to Sembawang GRC (Woodlands) and Mr Derrick Goh, Adviser to Nee Soon GRC (Nee Soon Link) for being our
Special Guests for ‘A Compassionate Journey Made Possible 2022’ eventon 5 Nov 2022.

Finally, I am very grateful to our Board Members, Volunteers and Staff for their dedication despite the pandemic.
