Partnering Agency For Integrated Care (AIC)

Social isolation and loneliness among seniors is a pressing public health concern and has been linked to increased risks of mental health issues, chronic conditions, and even premature mortality.

This highlights the urgency of befriending services, to forge vital human connections and reconnect our elderly back into the community.

Confronting the harsh reality: 39% of Singaporeans aged 62 and above reported being lonely and lonely seniors above 60 may experience a 3-5 year reduction in life expectancy.*

Meet our Befriending Beneficiaries

Ms Lee Geok Hua, in her late 60s

  • Lives alone after her only kin has passed on

  • Lacked technological skills and had limited interaction

How Befriending helps her: She struggled with feelings of hopelessness and profound sadness after losing her only family. Our befrienders provided her with social support and services like taking her on outings, mending her wheelchair and more. With their help, she was able to bridge the technology gap, empowering her to connect with others through her phone. BSL brought light back into her life as she found happiness in meeting people and being integrated into the community.
