Taking Passion to its Greatest Heights

Blossom Seeds was invited to attend a Shanghai Yue Opera modern remake of Butterfly Lovers organized by Tang Renaissance on 30th Jun. According to Chairman Mr Vincent Chua, in his 50s, Tang Renaissance attempts to promote the beauty of this opera genre to the multi-cultural and multi-religious audience in Singapore with hopes of reaching out to the regional audience in the future.

The piece was played to a full house crowd at the Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre with patron and guest of honor, Mr Chee Hong Tat, Senior Minister of State, also in attendance for the whole session.

The genesis of this art charity group came about due to the strong passion and interest in Shanghai Yue Opera of Ms Foo Kok Wan, who founded the first Shanghai Yue Opera Appreciation Club in 1999. Over the years, as the interest group grew, it morph into what is now known as Tang Renaissance.

It was an interesting and inspirational evening as it proved once again that with passion and good health, one can live an active and colorful life no matter what age.
