Ready, Set, GOLD! 2024

After weeks of planning, organizing, and inviting the community, the momentous day finally came! Friends and partners from all walks of life converged, with a shared sense of purpose. A sea of colorful T-shirts, representing the different organisations, created a tapestry of unity.

Minister Ong Ye Kung, Minister for Health and Adviser to Sembawang Central GRO, Dr Lim Wee Kiak, PBM, Adviser for Sembawang GRC (Canberra) and Ms Mariam Jaafar Adviser to Sembawang GRC (Woodlands) graced the occasion. Flagging off from Bukit Canberra we finished at Blossom Seeds where the carnival began. Highlight of this years Ready, Set, GOLD! is the awarding of BSL Chefs & our Club 90s!

“Ready, Set, GOLD! 2024! made me feel rejuvenated - young again - with charity walk, games & exciting programs for all in the neighbourhood. You give us reasons to bond as Singaporeans of all races go through different life journeys - as seniors. Refreshing programs & food as well as interactions are happy memories to cherish for a long time. Long live BSL, thank you for the joy you brought to us - Zainab & Sharif, members of Blossom Seeds since 2018.

Highlights

Walking is a simple daily task for many of us, but, it is a challenge for our vulnerable seniors. It is extremely gratifying to see them make an effort to complete the 1.5km despite pauses here n there, doing their best to complete the walk with support from family & volunteers. not forgetting our wheelchair users too. Along the way there were flash mobs of Tai Chi, Line Dance performed by our seniors & Hype Dance from the youngsters that surprised & captivated the participants with their performances to celebrate Active Ageing.

Sikh Drummers welcomed the participants at the finishing line with upbeat melodies! Together with our partners, Minister Ong & Ms Mariam graced their presence to the launch of the carnival. Our seniors took to the stage with their dancing & singing to their hearts content. Certainly a rewarding sight seeing all seniors having fun with their friends & families, & smiling away.
